ABOUT
Guest
strips are a weekly feature of the Daily Cross Hatch site, posted every Friday.  It’s where an artist can showcase a bit of their work to our readers without critical examination or review.  It’s just a little taste of eye candy to get people excited about your work – and since we don’t often feature interior pages on the site to accompany reviews – this is a nice chance to show DCH readers what makes your work interesting.  It’s also the one thing that doesn’t get edited on the site.

SUBMISSIONS
Length: The ideal guest strip would be short (just a page or a panel in length) for optimal web viewing.

File size: Don’t sweat this too hard.  72 ppi is kind of the web standard, and at its largest size, your submission should be readable.  If your strip looks too big, we’ll re-size it.  No big deal.

Content: Nothing is edited.  All content is accepted.  Go nuts.

Exclusivity: We ask that submissions be original work composed for the purpose of getting your work noticed by readers of the Daily Cross Hatch.  This does not mean we “own” the rights to your work.  It just means that we don’t want an excerpt from your latest/upcoming comic.  We ask that your comic has at least 2 months of exclusivity with us, during which time you can post it on your website or blog or flickr etc. purely for cross-promotion, but your guest strip will not appear anywhere else in print or web circulation.  After 2 months, it will still be on our site in the archives, but you can do what you want with it and publish a “best of my comics” mini or whatever.  We don’t have lawyers trolling the internet, waiting for you to slip up, it’s just an honor system thing.  We’d like to think of Guest Strip Friday as something special for the readers, you know?  That’s all.

Email: Send guest strip submissions via email to Sarah Morean.  You can attach the image, or link to an outside source.  Also include a brief bio and list of upcoming events/releases, general news bits about you and your work, and a link to your website.  This information will be a guidepost for writing the intro to your guest strip.  Once all your submission material has been received (image, bio/news, url), Sarah will let you know on what date you can expect your strip to be published.  First come, first served.

Questions: Contact Sarah Morean.
