• For a bookmark must check out Masters of Manga Theater, a new web project by translator Marc Bernabe, that features such names as Moto Hagio, Urasawa, and Tako Saito.
• Sometimes it’s nice to see an artist re-imagine superheroes in something other than sexing them up even more. Christopher Uminga’s heroes are a quirky kind of adorable.
• The late William Steig, author of Shrek (the book that inspired the movie), will be having a showing of his work at the Norman Rockwell Museum the exhibit, Love & Laughter, will premiere from 7pm to 10pm.
• Steve Niles is going on a Mystery Society tour promoting his new comic. He’ll be in Amarillo, Texas (noon- 2pm) and Waco (6-8pm).

• Hard times have befallen the superheroes of Hollywood as the caped panhandlers are henceforth banned from the streets.
• Serenity fan? Patton Oswalt will be signing copies of his newly released issue of Serenity: Float Out in House of Secrets in California.
• Get out of the hot sun and into the air conditioned space of a convention like the Heroes Con in Charlotte and the Omaha Comic Book Convention.

• Anthony Clark (a.k.a Neroid) envisions a special day scenario about Hurley and Ben’s life on the island post- Lost.
• Grand Theft Andy, now on TopShelf, is a comic study on video game violence a la Grand Theft Auto (if you couldn’t already tell by the title).
• If you’re looking for someone to sign a piece of paper for you this weekend look no further than Midtown Comics in NYC this weekend where Steve Niles (30 Days of Night) is going to be signing stuff.

• Faith Erin Hicks’ Girl Comics #2 is out this week and she gives us a pleasing preview with a Wolverine short.
• Fringe went to the other side on Thursday with their season finale and if you were wondering about those comic book covers in the background, here they are.
• If you’re looking for something to do this Saturday, Midtown is having Paul Levitz of Legion of Super Herroes between 2 and 4pm to sign copies.
• If you’re looking for something to do more in the way of a convention then hope that your somewhere near Richmond, VA or East Hanover, NJ to get your fill.

• Possibly the best mash-up to look forward to, Twilight meets wimpy kid in Diary of a Wimpy Vampire by Tim Collins.
• Stay cool by going inside and checking out these conventions: There’s still time to head down to Tampa and check out their comic and toy con going on till 4pm (Sunday). There’s also the DC comic con–Washington DC that is.
• Earth Day has come and gone, but you can still help by recycling model kit runners.

• Recently, pop culture has just begun to recognize how lame Aquaman is, but no one can make fun of the king of the seas quite like Kate Beaton.
• If you’ve ever wondered what life is like for a voice actor then you should probably check out the book Voice-Over Voice Actor: What it’s Like Behind the Mic by Yuri Lowenthall and Tara Platt. If you want to talk to them about it then you’ll have to go to Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
• At a loss for something to do this weekend? Well there’s the Small Press & Alternative Comics Expo in Columbus, Ohio (24th-25th). For those in the middle of nowhere New York there’s Ithacon (24th).

• Rick Remender, Punisher and Fear Agent, sent out a teaser (in more ways than one) Friday.  The supposed comics project has been dubbed “Earth Zero” the only other information that’s known is artist Greg Tocchini is in on the action.
• Remember the good old days of walking to school, up hill, both ways? Well now you can reminisce about the day when single issue comic books were cheaper. $3.99 is now the most common price for comics.
