- Pizza Island, the collective studio of Julia Wertz, Karen Sneider, Domitille Collardey and Sarah Glidden, has created a collective blog.
- Speaking of collective cartoonist blogs, cartoonists Bob Flynn, Chris Houghton, Dan Moynihan, and David Degrand share a blog called Heeby Jeeby Comix. The comics tell unusual and bizarre stories, and run the gamut from cute to creepy. Launched in October of 2009, the group has just self-published their first book collection.
- Killing The Grizzly, a new kind of agency and production house for graphic works, has officially launched. The agency focuses on interactive marketing, community engagement, and transmedia to bring both new and forgotten comics into the eye of publishers, producers, and readers.
- Silly Lilly and the Four Seasons, a children’s comic book by Agnes Rosenstiehl, is now available on your iPhone. In English, Spanish, French, Russian, and Mandarin Chinese!
- PictureBox is pleased to announce the unveiling of its fancy new website. The site is intended to serve as a “visual culture hangout spot,” hosting individual blogs from artists and writers, historical essays, works-in-progress, comic strips, photo sets, and more!
- Dean Haspiel’s incredible art has gotten him nominated for an Emmy in Outstanding Main Title Design for his work on HBO’s Bored to Death.
- The Museum of Comic and Cartoon Art is pleased to present R. Sikoryak and Bill Kartalopoulos in Conversation on Thursday, July 15, at 7:00pm. The topic of conversation is “How Classics and Cartoons Collide.” Admission is $5, or free to MoCCA members.
- Alex Cox of Rocketship has launched a new webcomic of his very own.
- Joey Comeau of a softer world will be reading from his new book, One Bloody Thing After Another, at Quimby’s on Thursday, August 12, at 7:00pm.
