• This March, Marvel is doing a “Women’s Spotlight” series, featuring such female cartoonists as Trina Robbins, Colleen Coover, Lucy Knisley, Molly Crabapple…and many more!
• After years of working on the fan/interviewer side of the comics world, Alex Zalben is doing his own limited series for Marvel! Prepare for Thor.
• The American Library Association just announced its 2010 awards: they rewarded tiny publisher TOON Books (which published 3 books last year) two of its top prizes.
• With mere markers, canvases and a bottle of liquor, Phetus and Mr. Den wowed onlookers as they whipped up designs for an event hosted by Wizard Sleeve Toys in Long Island during Art Basel week.
• Step aside, Mad Men: Robert Kirkman and Charlie Adlard’s The Walking Dead has been greenlit as a pilot by AMC.
• Darwyn Cooke is coming to D.C.
• Sean Murphy’s Joe the Barbarian has a launch coming up at Bergen Street Comics in Brooklyn on Saturday, January 30, 7 PM-close. Murphy will be signing, original pages will be displayed, and refreshments will be served.
