I tend to be pretty shy at Last Gasp and usually assume the lack of mixing between people who don't already know each other is probably due to the fact that we're all cartoonists, and cartoonists tend to be a little socially awkward. APE can be stressful though! I enjoyed both Will and Sarah's comics, and look forward to talking further to you both at the next con!
