As a survivor, I want to thank Josh for this work. The true story of the flood that occurred after Katrina passed can only come from the people that lived it, not from people that always have agendas in their viewpoint. Many Americans want to forget because it was shameful moment to them. When I got back online 3 weeks after the storm the first words I read were "Katrina fatique". And it went downhill from there, including politicians calling for the abandonment of the city. We were having none of that, and the city survives because we refused to let it die. Yes, America was more than willing to forget Katrina and its terrible aftermath. That is why this work means so much to us. Josh, an outsider, says he cares by creating this graphic novel. He says what we went through matters. I can never thank him enough for that. He did a great job. What a beautiful person.

I had the pleasure of sharing a table with Josh at SPX this weekend, and I can't wait to read this book. Unfortunately, I missed his speaking panel (someone had to watch the table!), but hopefully it was videotaped. His wife is working on a teaching guide to accompany the book, so all you teachers out there take note!
