  • The One Book, One Philadelphia Selection Committee has chosen Marjane Satrapi’s The Complete Persepolis as its featured selection for 2010. This is all part of the City of Brotherly Love’s program to prevent shipping their youth to Bel-Air.
  • Harvey Pekar will be making two public appearances at Ball State University on September 21 and 22 to educate the kids on American Splendor and all that jazz. Oh, yeah, and there are refreshments afterward.
  • Top Shelf kicks off its GINORMOUS (it’s in the dictionary, look it up) $3 Sale to celebrate the release of a downloadable version of The Surrogates, and the Bruce Willis film based on the graphic novel out next week.
  • Matt Kindt’s 3 Story: The Secret History of the Giant Man is released today in all fine comic shops and bookstores. Check out this preview that Dark Horse was awesome enough to thrown down on the ol’ Internet.
  • Don’t have your tickets for Bethesda’s Small Press Expo yet? Just a little too short on funds, you say? Win your tickets here, son.
  • To coincide with the release of their new book today, Beasts of Burden, Evan Dorkin and Jill Thompson will be signing at Comic Book Jones on Staten Island from 6-9 PM. The Rolling Stones had to cancel their performance of “Beast of Burden” from the Some Girls album, but in their place will be a local indie rock act to be announced.
