  • Wild Ink” is happening Thursday, August 20th, at 9:00 at P.A.’s Lounge in Somerville, MA.  A fundraiser for the Boston Comics Roundtable, the event will feature a variety of comics-related events, and music by Rotary.
  • In anticipation of the debut issue of his G-Man: Cape Crisis, Mini-Marvels cartoonist Chris Giarrusso has created a Flash-based, 2D video game version of his series, available only on the Internet!
  • Fifteen new Kochalka songs!  Digital Elf, the new CD by James Kochalka Superstar, is now available for sale at Pure Pop Online.
  • Fantagraphics has announced plans to publish Nancy, Ernie Bushmiller’s famous newspaper strip, in book form, beginning in spring 2010.
  • The Union of Concerned Scientists prints an annual calendar of political cartoons.  You can vote right now to help determine which cartoons make the calendar!  Kevin Cannon, creator of the Cross Hatch’s lovely logo, is among the contenders.
  • San Francisco Zine Fest!  August 22 and 23!  FREE!
  • Danielle Corsetto of Girls with Slingshots is out and about and all over on tour.  Next up are signings at Paradise Comics and The Beguling in Toronto.
  • This Saturday, August 15, at the Cartoon Art Museum in San Francisco is the opening reception for “Once Upon A Dream: The Art of Sleeping Beauty.”  The exhibit celebrates the 50th anniversary of the Disney film, and features pencil art, color guides, behind-the-scenes photographs, and all sorts of other goodies.
  • “This is a Comic Book” is running all of August at the Mahan Gallery in Columbus, OH. According to Dorothy Gambrell, the exhibit includes “two original Cat and Girl drawings and a poorly made printout of a finished cartoon in the show.”
