  • Guillermo del Toro is popping up all over the place this week!  On Monday and Tuesday, he’ll be in Los Angeles at Meltdown Comics, and a Borders at 1360 Westwood Blvd.  On Thursday he’ll be in New York at a Barnes & Noble.  And by Saturday he’ll have journeyed all the way to the U.K. to hang out at the Forbidden Planet London Megastore.  Such is the glamorous life of comic book movie directors.
  • Speaking of Forbidden Planet, Marc Ellerby of Ellerbisms was interviewed by them in December and shared his “Best of 2008” comics list.
  • The Adrian Tomine & Seth tour continues: this Tuesday they’re in Cambridge at the Harvard Book Store, under the billing “Two Comics Masters Discuss Their Craft.”  On Thursday they’re in New York at Strand Books.
  • Joey Comeau and Emily Horne of A Softer World are also on tour right now.  This Tuesday they will be in Philadelphia at Wooden Shoe Books.  Which leaves plenty of time to get to MoCCA by Saturday.
  • MoCCA isn’t the only comics festival happening this weekend: there’s also the Florida SuperCon in Miami (Bruce Campbell will be there), the Atlanta Comic Convention in Georgia (C. Martin Croker will be there), Sac-Con in Sacramento, the Montreal Comic-Con, and the Northwest Comic Convention at a Holiday Inn in Portland.
  • Fantagraphics has teamed up with IFC.com to premiere an animated Web series of Dash Shaw’s latest book, The Unclothed Man.
  • Jason, “Europe’s Finest Cartoonist,” is making an appearance on Wednesday at the Strand in NYC in honor of his new book, Low Moon, a collection of his ongoing serial for the New York Times Magazine.
  • Meanwhile in Brooklyn: Paul Hornschemeier is scheduled to appear this Friday at Desert Island Comics.
