  • The highly anticipated 2009 Eisner Awards Online voting has begun, open for comics professionals and due by June 15.
  • Tomorrow, May 2 in NYC, Adrian Tomine is hosting an on-stage discussion with gekiga trailblazer Yoshihiro Tatsumi.
  • Forgotten, a comic about a man whose burdensome “power” is that he’s always forgotten five minutes after everything he does or everyone he meets, has been optioned to be turned into a feature film.
  • Joy! The popular comic news site Broken Frontier is relaunching.
  • Canadian publishing favorite Drawn & Quarterly is starting a children’s book line, “D&Q Enfant,” and launching with Moomin picture books.
  • The Cartoon Network’s “Secret Saturdays” cartoon show is joining the world of print in a series of graphic novels produced by Del Rey, hitting stores in September.
  • This Sunday, May 3, Esther Pearl Watson will be signing her graphic novel Unlovable Vol. 1 in L.A.
  • Also on May 3 in Brooklyn, NY,  award-winning cartoonist Al Jaffee (of MAD Magazine fame), discusses life , his New York Herald Tribune syndication “Tall Tales,” and the recent book that collects it all.
  • One of the many perks of Free Comic Book Day – Teenage Dinosaur, Tugboat Press and Sparkplug present the release of Bird Hurdler by a cornucopia of great creators – for FREE, available at 27 stores nationwide this Saturday.
  • Madman Atomic Comics‘  Mike Allred is now the permanent cover artist for Image’s ongoing superhero saga, Jersey Gods.
