Moderating a Panel on Sunday, and CROSS HATCH T-SHIRTS!

Categories:  News

Hey guys, a couple of quick things.

First, for those of you who happen to be headed to the Brooklyn Book Expo, this weekend, I’m happy to announce that I’ll be moderating a panel featuring Kyle Baker and Mo Willems, Sunday at noon.

Most—if not all—of you are no doubt family with Baker’s work, be it his Jack Cole-inspired stint on Plastic Man, his humor strips, or last year’s critically acclaimed graphic novel, Nat Turner. Mo Willems has also oft found himself at the business end of his share of accolades, primarily through children’s books like Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus! and Knuffle Bunny: A Cautionary Tale. He’s also written for a number of TV shows, including Sesame Street and Codename: Kid’s Next Door.

The panel bears the happily non-specific (not to mention strangely talk show-like) title, Cartooning Today. It’s Sunday at noon at the Borough Hall Plaza North Stage, in downtown Brooklyn. More Info is available here.

Second (only in the chronological sense, surely), I’m equally excited to announce the upcoming release of the first-ever official Daily Cross Hatch t-shirts (sorry kids, those poorly printed Hanes Beefy tees you bought in the parking lot of last year’s Harvey Awards were, sadly, nothing but cheap knockoffs). These the genuine article, with art designed by none other than the brilliant Kevin Cannon.
We’ll be selling the shirts at SPX—likely somewhere in the ballpark of $15-20—and would like to gauge your interest in them. If you’re going to SPX, and you plan on picking one up, drop me a line, either in the comments or at our e-mail address. Specify which of the designs you’d like (dino or penguin), an abstract concept of your color preference (i.e. “yellow” rather than, you know, “quinacridone gold”), and size preference (including gender). While, sadly, we likely won’t be able to guarantee that we’ll have an exact match, we’d like to get as close to the demand as an off-handed blog survey can promise. Please let me know, ASAP.

Thanks all.
