This week’s Dispatch: Catholic Church releases comic, an artist tribute and a few items to add to your Indie Comics Wish List.
- The Catholic Church releases a child abuse comic and warns: even children shouldn’t be left alone with Priests. The New York’s Archdiocese hopes the comic will help branch the difficult subject matter to children.
- A video podcast Tribute to Mike Wieringo at iFanboy. Editor Tom Brevoort, writer Todd Dezago and columnist Augie DeBlieck Jr join iFanboy to take a look at Wieringo’s career, from his mainstream work to his creator-owned book Tellos.
- Comicbook Artists Guild seeks new members. CAG, now in it’s seventh year, is looking to increase its’ member total by 10-percent.
- G. Willow Wilson releases/talks Cairo her new graphic novel inspired by her time in the Middle East. The story, set in modern day Cairo, follows five characters drawn together by extraordinary circumstances on an adventure that brings them face to face with the Muslim version of Satan.
- Checker reprints Windsor Mccay’s Dreams of the Rarebit Fiend: The Saturdays originally published way back in 1904. You can almost smell the magical, musty pages.
- American Elf revamps and gives the gift of free comics for the Holidays. The daily diary comic strip is now completely free, but subscribers get some extra bang for their buck.
- Also just in time for the holidays, I Know Joe Kimpel is having a little sale. Center for Cartoon Studies posters, a CCS Diploma, and a Seth-signed uncut brochure sheet are all up for bidding The proceeds go to help CCS students.
