I see comic books.
Vintage Comic Book Art of Mexico is a unique exhibit of a bit of Mexican comic book history. I will try to stop by and take some pictures, but I believe several gouache cover illustrations will be on display. You can catch the reception this Saturday, July 14, from 2pm-6pm, at The Folk Tree in Pasadena, CA. This press release provides the details and a few pictures.
Too Much Coffee Man opera is not only making the fat lady sing, it’ll keep her up pretty late doing it, too. There will be three showings on July 27 (3pm, 4:30pm and 11pm), and a couple of them on July 28 (1:30pm and 11pm). San Diego comicon-goers will be treated to free showings, while the rest pay $20. Amazing buzz, either way.
You may be hearing the voices of Sean Penn and Iggy Pop in the upcoming English-language version of Persepolis, the movie based on Marjane Sartrapi’s book about life in Iran during the 1979 revolution. (via Bags and Boards).
I suggest there be more of these comic book themed coloring and craft activities. These things are truly under-estimated fun.
Comic book artists have turned into Harry Potter movie fan artists! Did you know that after Rupert Grint, who plays Ron Weasley, passed his driving test, he went and bought an ice cream truck? I’m waiting for the picture, guys. (via Fleen)
